We are no stranger to the alarming facts of global warming, with the world's temperature rising at a frightening rate, even the smallest of changes can make a difference. It is estimated that by 2050, there could be more plastic in the oceans than fish (by weight) (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2016). For years, superyacht crew have used harsh products to keep the brightwork and teak decks clean and spotless. However, we are seeing a burgeoning trend with the use of eco-friendly products used onboard superyachts, packaged in recyclable bottles or highly concentrated to reduce waste. We'll explore three companies who are dedicated to making a difference with their eco-friendly cleaning products.

Ecoworks Marine have been spearheading this movement since their launch in 2015. With a complete range of sustainable products on offer covering all of the departments from the interior, to the exterior and the engine room, Ecoworks Marine have quickly become the leading eco-friendly cleaning product manufacturer in the superyacht industry.

The Global Business Development Manager for Ecoworks Marine continued "We started our journey to develop the most sustainable cleaning products in the industry. Back then we really were pioneering and we're pleased we stuck at it. Being part of the new wave of better for environment products means a lot to us."

Fast forward to 2020 and with first-hand experience working onboard superyachts, Onyx was launched with its diverse range of environmentally aware products. The Onyx range covers predominantly the exterior with products suitable for teak decks, washdowns, detailing and polishing with their recent addition of a ceramic marine coating. Their ceramic coating product offers significant advantages like UV protection to brightwork and the prevention of oxidation. With a ceramic coated surface, you'll use less water and less solutions for cleaning, thus protecting the environment and reducing waste.

The founder of Onyx said "Our eco-aware formulas harness the power to effectively clean boats while being more gentle on our marine ecosystems. It’s not just about keeping boats pristine; it’s about preserving the health of our oceans for future generations."
