METS Trade or METS as it is commonly known amongst the marine fraternity is the world's largest marine equipment trade show and is held in annually in Amsterdam, Holland. METS is the one of the last yachting shows in the calendar for Polaris Yacht Supply and one that should not be missed. Every year, manufacturers and suppliers from the superyacht and leisure marine industry gather to showcase their latest products and services to the industry, but with a difference. The show operates differently in that it is purely B2B (business-to-business).
As it was our first time visiting this year, our MD Adam Hunkin went to represent Polaris Yacht Supply. With excitement building, he jumped on a flight to Amsterdam a day early to prepare for what the show had in store. Set in 12 halls in the RAI with over 10,000 visitors over three days, METS had everything on offer for both the marine leisure and superyacht industry with the DAME awards hall showcasing the very latest cutting-edge technology and innovative products. In addition to METS, The Superyacht Forum run by The Superyacht Group ran parallel to the show with a focus on sustainability, with the headline of the forum named Evolve or Repeat. The highlight of the forum for us was the YPY (Young Professionals in Yachting) 'The Next Generation' session focussing on the next generation in yachting. It was a fantastic discussion with many interesting questions and comments coming from both the floor and the stage.
Some highlights from the show for us were:
Baudoin's Yacht Drone - an innovative product designed to make cleaning inaccessible areas on yachts easy, which is available through our Deck Procurement division.
The YPY dinner hosted by YPY Netherlands and attended by members of 5 chapters including YPY UK.
The next generation session, hosted by members from YPY and The Superyacht Group at the The Superyacht Forum.
It was great to meet our ever-supportive suppliers at the show as well as network and meet new clients and suppliers, so overall a great success for us at Polaris Yacht Supply for our first time visiting this year. We will definitely be back next year!
