Composite Materials

Strength to weight ratio
Composites are widely used throughout Polaris products due to their inherent strength to weight ratios, this is especially key with products that are frequently moved onboard by crew.

The use of composites allows us to have an element of freedom throughout the design process where the use of alternative materials may not be suitable due to design and structural constraints.

Unlike other materials such as metals and wood, products manufactured from composite materials require very little to no maintenance providing a long term cost saving.

Types of composites used:

  • Carbon fibre (plain weave, 2x2 twill, 4x4 twill, forged)

  • Glass fibre (E-glass)

  • Aramid fibre
